Have you ever had a moment where what needs to be said just flows through you? It’s like God or the Universe gave you its Wi-Fi password. I had one last week when sending an email to a client who was stuck in a cycle of inconsistency. It landed so well I thought I would share it with you here…
Dear Client,
Plainly put you just haven’t made the decision to become a professional. Until you do, you will continue to live in the chaos of endless self negotiation and buying into the idea that somehow tomorrow is going to be different. But it won’t be. The negotiation inside of you has to end. You have to stop breaking promises to yourself. Not tomorrow. Today.
The inner critic had its shot. It did its best but as of this moment, it is fired. Its employment within you has been terminated. It has been removed from the field and can join the rest of the critics sitting amongst the fans. Although its voice may still at times be heard from afar, it has zero power over you.
A new voice with a new story is now taking its place. It is your inner coach. The inner coach understands that the path of becoming a winner isn’t found in talking to yourself like a loser. This coach has a new playbook and it is simple; talk to yourself like you would someone you love. Slow down. Tune out the critic and ask, ‘If I were coaching someone I love, what would I say to them right now?”
