About a year ago I was in a mastermind with a group of top real estate agents from around the country. We were all sitting around tables in groups of roughly 8-10 per table. One person who I’d known of for some time but didn’t know personally said something that really made me feel for him… “I have built multiple businesses, many of them have been successful, some haven’t. But I am not any happier than I was before I started. I make more money. We have a better house. We go on cool vacations but I always return back to my everyday life feeling like none of this is really worth it.”

My heart broke a little for him and I had mad respect for the vulnerability especially in that room where achievement and acknowledgment are so thick in the air you can almost smell it.

The advice monsters took off at that point throwing tactical approach after tactical approach at him. You should have a gratitude journal. You should meditate. You should exercise. Get your blood work done. You’re just in the wrong business. It was an assault of answers and not one person asked him a question.

When it finally calmed and there were a few seconds of awkward silence I piped in with a simple question.

“If God called you and said he would give you access to the 3D printer he used to create the world to build your ideal life how much clarity would you walk into that appointment with?”

He looked at me like a deer in headlights. Everyone else looked at me like I was some guru weirdo. Eventually, after he stopped buffering he said “Not very much.”

“If you had a one time shot at that appointment meaning God said I’m going to give you an hour to sit in front of my computer to create this ideal life how much time would you prepare for that appointment if you knew you would never receive another opportunity like it again?”

“I would go to my mountain house and lock myself inside by myself for an entire day and not come out until I was totally clear.”

“Ok, so now you know the process you’d go through. Why haven’t you done that already?”

“Too busy.”

“Maybe. Is it possible you might come out of that clarity session with the knowledge that you might have to burn down your current life to build the one you want now?”

He just looked down. He didn’t say anything. I knew I’d touched on what was really holding him back. It wasn’t just that he didn’t have clarity. He was afraid of what he might find in the process.

I’d love to tell you that I followed up with this guy and he built the life of his dreams but I don’t honestly know what happened to him. He might have gone to that mountain house and figured it all out, and I pray that’s what he did.

But from that conversation I want you to hear a few things.

  1. How much clarity would you have if you were given access to God’s 3D Printer?
  2. If you had a once in a lifetime shot appointment to use his computer what’s the process you would follow to access that clarity?
  3. Do you possess the courage to be truly honest with yourself and if necessary burn what doesn’t serve you so you can build what does?

Take your time with these questions. They are powerful and I know if you will sit with them and allow yourself the space to find your answers then the courage to live them one day you’ll look up and have built a masterpiece of a life that is just right for you.

live freed,
Jordan
